Home-made Felt/Bulletin Board
Did you ever wonder what you could do with those flat Styrofoam sheets you occasionally get inside boxes as packing material? (Besides throw it away?)
Well, one thing you can make is a home-made felt/bulletin board.
I happened onto two thin pieces approximately 20″ x 9″. (Any size will work.)
Since they were so thin (about 1/2 inch), I decided to glue them together for strength.
I found some nice soft woven material (I don’t know what type) that was kicking around in my craft collection to cover the foam board with. Before thinly gluing it to the board, I made sure that felt pieces would “stick” to the material. (You may choose to cover yours with felt.)
After allowing glue to dry on the main surface of the board, I folded the ends over and glued them first.
Then I glued and folded one flap and then the other, carefully trying to keep it as neat as possible.
A portion of the material I used had a nice smooth edge that looks very neat and tidy above.
This portion was a little more difficult to work with because it had a rough cut edge that had to be rolled under while gluing.
TA DA! Felt board…
or bulletin board.
(If you don’t have any foam sheets lying around, that is okay because you can either buy a piece at a craft store or you can utilize other material such as cardboard, a pizza box, or any other surface you have that is somewhat portable and light weight.)
And this book is filled with great activities for felt boards:
